The Scene
INT. CASTING OFFICE - DAY MARCUS (32) strides in, sides in hand. He was told it was a toothpaste commercial. The CASTING DIRECTOR looks up from behind a table. Behind her: a banner reading "MACBETH - Regional Premiere." CASTING DIRECTOR Name? MARCUS Marcus. Marcus Webb. I'm here for... (clocking the banner) ...Shakespeare. Obviously. CASTING DIRECTOR Which role are you reading for today? MARCUS (beat) The...main one. CASTING DIRECTOR Macbeth? MARCUS Exactly. Macbeth. My people say I was born for it. He holds up his commercial sides upside down and begins reading. MARCUS (CONT'D) "Is this a... dagger which I see before me..." (squinting) "...thirty percent brighter, for a whiter smile." The casting director slowly removes her glasses. END OF SCENE
